Question 1

Which systems can run Night Calibre?

Accepted Answer

Windows 10 and Windows 11, 64-bit. A modest PC is enough: an Intel Core i3 or a comparable AMD processor, 4 GB of RAM and 1 GB of video memory. macOS and Linux are not offered yet.

Question 2

How do I update to the latest version?

Accepted Answer

Download and install the latest build into the same directory as your original installation. By default this is C:\Program Files\Night Calibre. Projects and settings are preserved. The current version number is shown at the bottom of the Project Browser.

Question 3

How do I uninstall Night Calibre?

Accepted Answer

Open Control Panel, then Uninstall a Program, select Night Calibre, and follow the prompts.

Question 4

Can I download a previous version?

Accepted Answer

The site offers the current build. If you need an earlier one, write to support@nightcalibre.com.

Question 5

Night Calibre fails to start. What can I try?

Accepted Answer

Install the latest build and update the graphics driver. The card needs DirectX 11. If Windows Defender blocked the file, allow the installation folder and run the installer again.

Question 6

What does Free export?

Accepted Answer

Free exports up to 1080p, including 1080×1920, 1080×1080 and 1080×1350. Creator adds 4K. Ultimate adds 5K to 8K, ProRes, DNxHR, H.265 and AV1.

Question 7

My export plays audio only in Windows Media Player.

Accepted Answer

Night Calibre writes modern codecs that some older players do not decode. VLC, or any current player with H.264 support, will play the file.

Question 8

Is Night Calibre a free video editor?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Free is a full editor: timeline, colour and sound, plus best moments, auto captions, transcript editing, silence removal, vertical timelines and 1080p export. There is no trial clock, and no account is required.

Question 9

Can I turn a long YouTube or Twitch video into Shorts?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Drop a long YouTube video, Twitch VOD or podcast. Night Calibre finds the strongest moments and cuts them for Shorts, Reels and TikTok, with captions and a 9:16 frame. You can trim any clip before you export.

Question 10

Does Free include auto captions and voiceover?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Free includes auto captions, transcript editing, a core voice library, background removal and 1080p export. Translate, dub and voice match are on Creator and Ultimate. Script to first assembly is on Ultimate.

Question 11

Can I edit TikTok, Reels and Shorts in Night Calibre?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Open a 9:16, 1:1 or 4:5 timeline, turn on the safe-zone overlay for the app you are posting to, and export 1080×1920 from Free. Creator and Ultimate add 4K vertical and a batch of every ratio from one master.

Question 12

Do captions or voice renders leave my machine?

Accepted Answer

Speech is transcribed into the open project. You burn captions into the picture or write SRT and VTT beside the master. Voice clips land on the timeline like any other audio.

Question 13

Will auto reframe crop an interview on its own?

Accepted Answer

It follows the face, product or action you mark. Every keyframe stays on the clip, so you can pin a line and let the frame travel again after it.

Question 14

Does Free need an account or a licence key?

Accepted Answer

No. Download the installer and open the editor. Free does not ask you to sign in, and it does not expire.

Question 15

How do I buy Creator or Ultimate?

Accepted Answer

Write to support@nightcalibre.com and name the edition. Paid licences are arranged by email. There is no card form on the site.

Question 16

Can I use a paid licence on more than one system?

Accepted Answer

Every Creator or Ultimate yearly or perpetual purchase includes a complimentary second activation, for a laptop and a desktop, or as a spare after hardware failure.

Question 17

I reinstalled the system. Is the licence lost?

Accepted Answer

No. Install Night Calibre again and write to support from the same email you used to buy. We will move the licence.

Question 18

How do I move a paid licence to another machine?

Accepted Answer

Install on the new system and write to support. If the second activation is still free, we apply it there.

Question 19

Do perpetual licences expire?

Accepted Answer

A perpetual licence covers the major version you purchased, including minor updates, without a time limit. The next major version requires an upgrade licence.

Question 20

Will I lose projects when I update?

Accepted Answer

No. Installing over the same directory updates the application and keeps project files, presets and preferences.

Question 21

Are Free projects compatible with Creator and Ultimate?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Open the same project after upgrading and the additional tools appear on that timeline.

Question 22

Which plans include the advanced effects pack?

Accepted Answer

Core effects ship with every edition. Advanced titling is on Creator and Ultimate. The complete pack is Ultimate.

Question 23

I installed an effects pack but cannot see it.

Accepted Answer

Confirm you are on the latest build and that the licence matches the pack. Restart the application and check the plugin panel.
